Things to do;
1. Check out our Conversation Guide to help your writing
2. Follow the steps below;
Please follow these simple steps:
1. Reflect on your experience:
Take some time to think about the story you want to share. The should be a personal narrative and can include your family history, a folktale, or a reflection on your community's challenges and triumphs. Please note that our focus is on capturing the stories of our parents and grandparents (those aged 50 and above) - the story should be told from their eyes.
2. Write your story:
Once you have your story in mind, start writing. Don't worry about making it perfect – focus on capturing the essence of your experience. We have included some guiding questions to help you tell the story.
3. Review and edit:
After writing your story, take a break and come back to it later with fresh eyes. Review your work and make any necessary edits for clarity and coherence.
4. Structure
The stories can be a minimum of one post and a maximum of 10 posts. For ease of reading, please keep the number of words to no more than 350 words per post (approximately 2200 characters).
5. Supporting Materials:
If you have any photos, videos (no more than 3 minutes), or professional links (websites) or other media that help illustrate your story, gather them to include with your submission. Please note that each post must have 1 strong photograph (or short video) in a high resolution. Older pictures (black and whites) should be scanned properly to ensure the best quality. Pictures should be saved as PNG or JPEG files and videos as MP4 files.
6. Submitting draft of your story:
Fill out the submission form by providing your name, contact information (phone and email), and a brief description of your story.
Upload your story and supporting materials. Please note stories may be submitted in a language other than English - the final story will be translated into English with a copy of the original language. Please read the Consent information before submitting.
Our team will review your submission and get back to you within four (4) weeks to confirm receipt, review any amendments and discuss the next steps.
